Our breeding platform
- Breeding new dahlia varieties using heavy-ion irradiation technology. In addition to our research on conventional breeding and anti-seasonal cultivation techniques, we are utilizing nuclear radiation technology to breed new dahlia varieties by researching heavy ion irradiation breeding. At present, we have produced several new Dahlia varieties using this technology. These varieties have robust plants with large and colorful flowers and are suitable for potted and cut flowers.
- Breeding new Dahlia varieties with tissue culture technology. Since conventional propagation methods cannot meet landscaping needs, seed propagation is subject to mutation, and there are problems with long breeding cycles and virus accumulation. We use tissue culture technology, which has fast expansion and a short breeding time, for breeding new Dahlia varieties. In addition, by using tissue culture technology, we can solve the difficulties in Dahlia production in terms of flowering period and flower color control. In addition, our established Dahlia group culture fast breeding an efficient regeneration system have laid the foundation for the scale propagation of excellent Dahlia strains, germplasm conservation, and the establishment of a genetic transformation system and the development of Dahlia transgenic breeding.
- Breeding new Dahlia varieties using genetic engineering technology. At present, Dahlia varieties bred using conventional breeding methods are far from satisfying demand. Therefore, we have established an efficient regeneration system for Dahlia. We have used transgenic technology to introduce targeted genes to breed new Dahlia varieties with excellent ornamental traits and high resistance to adversity. At present, we have bred virus-resistant Dahlia varieties using genetic engineering technology, which has greatly promoted research on virus-resistant Dahlia varieties. In addition, we provide the isolated leaf disc infestation method. This has been effectively applied to transgenic Dahlia breeding research because of its simple operation and high transformation efficiency.
