Breeding of Clematis florida
INQUIRYClematis florida is a deciduous or evergreen herbaceous vine, an excellent vertical greening material, and a garden ornamental plant. Clematis florida has beautiful flowers, a fragrant smell, good ornamental value, and broad market prospects. It is commonly used for climbing evergreen or deciduous trees and shrubs, can be used as ground cover, and can be used to climb on some garden buildings.
Lifeasible is a professional plant breeding and research company. In our Clematis florida breeding research, we aim to breed new varieties with large flowers, double petals, novel flower colors, and small, multi-flowered, dense, and robust flowers using advanced breeding techniques.
Clematis florida in landscaping
- Clematis florida has good climbing and clinging characteristics and can cover exposed rocks, fences, house walls, etc., which is a good finishing touch for landscape architecture.
- Ground cover applications. Some of our drought-tolerant Clematis florida species can be used to cover drought-stricken surfaces, riverbanks, and dead-end landscaping to improve the surface landscape effectively.
- Ornamental potted plants. Some of our upright and robust Clematis florida varieties can be used as potted flowers.
Our breeding platform
In breeding new varieties of Clematis florida, we mainly use hybrid breeding techniques to combine different genotypes or varieties of Clematis florida in crosses to form hybrids. These hybrids are selected by breeding to obtain new varieties. Currently, we carry out hybrid breeding methods such as interspecific crosses and backcrosses of Clematis florida, and have bred new varieties with large flowers, a novelty in flower color, small flowers, multiple flowers, and robustness. We also use polyploid breeding, radiation breeding, chemical mutagenesis, and molecular breeding in selecting and breeding excellent varieties of Clematis florida. In particular, the research and application of double petal and flower color genes enriches flower color and gets double petal varieties.
What we provide
