Breeding of Delphinium grandiflorum
INQUIRYIntroductions
Delphinium grandiflorum is a perennial herb native to southern Europe. It has been cultivated in large numbers as an ornamental flower due to its peculiar flower shape and light color. Delphinium grandiflorum is a hillside or grassland plant that prefers a cool, airy, sunny environment. Currently, with the research on the molecular biology mechanism of drought, salt, and water stress tolerance, it has become a breeding goal to breed varieties with stronger resistance to stress.
Lifeasible combines the results of research on the molecular biological mechanisms of drought, salt stress, and water stress resistance in Delphinium grandiflorum and is committed to developing varieties with high adaptability, resistance to stress, and higher ornamental value.
What We Follow
With the completion of whole genome sequencing of many ornamental flowers, we can analyze the molecular mechanism of flower color production and disease resistance based on genomic data. Using genetic engineering technology, we are working to develop varieties of Delphinium grandiflorum with high adaptability, resistance to diseases, and higher ornamental value.

What We Provide
Flower Color Improvement
Delphinium grandiflorum does not exhibit red-purple color due to the lack of flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase required for anthocyanin derivatives. To meet the market demand for colorful flowers, our scientists have been working on breeding varieties other than blue. We have tried introducing the flavonoid 3'-hydroxylase gene into Delphinium grandiflorum to obtain the regular anthocyanin synthesis pathway, thus breeding red-purple varieties.
Drought Stress Tolerance Improvement
Plants undergo a complex series of physiological changes during drought stress. We can detect the levels of peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde, soluble sugars, and favorable proteins to detect the cold resistance of plants. We are committed to breeding drought-resistant varieties of Delphinium grandiflorum fleabane through transgenic technology and plant tissue culture.
