Breeding of Rose
INQUIRYIntroductions
With its bright colors, beautiful flowers, and many varieties, the rose is one of the most widely used ornamental flowers in the world and is also used as an important raw material in the cosmetic, food, and Chinese medicine industries. At present, the varieties of roses are the offspring of repeated crosses and backcrosses of wild species with narrow genetic backgrounds, resulting in fading fragrance and increasingly poor resistance of rose varieties. Therefore, the breeding of roses aims to produce new varieties with more diverse flower colors and greater disease resistance.
Lifeasible is dedicated to introducing excellent genes from distant relatives of roses into modern rose varieties through mutagenesis breeding and genetic engineering breeding techniques, creating varieties with abundant variation and providing a source of material for breeding excellent new rose varieties.
What We Follow
With the progress of sequencing technology and research on the rose genome and transcriptome, we can provide rose variety improvement services based on our understanding of the mechanisms of rose flower color formation, flower fragrance formation, and disease occurrence. The diagram below shows our workflow.

What We Provide
Flower Color Improvement
The cultivation of blue roses has been the focus of our work. We have been working to establish the accumulation of Delphinidin-type anthocyanins in roses using genetic engineering techniques to breed roses with blue petals. If you have ideas for breeding roses of other colors, please contact us to tell us the details of your needs.
Flower Fragrance Improvement
By studying the metabolic profiles and gene expression profiles of genes and enzymes in rose fragrance synthesis, we have been working on trying to introduce fragrance enzymes into roses and promote the formation of rose fragrance by finding suitable substrates.
Flowering Time Improvement
While continuous-flowering genotypes are capable of flowering in all favorable seasons, the breeding of roses capable of repeated flowering is an important goal in rose breeding. By analyzing the gene expression profiles of recurrent flowering and non-recurrent flowering flowers, we expect to help our customers to build recurrent flowering rose varieties using genetic engineering techniques.
Disease Resistance Breeding
We are committed to helping our customers breed rose varieties with resistance to diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and rose knot disease.
