Breeding of Paeonia
INQUIRYPaeonia is a perennial herb with flattering and colorful flowers of significant ornamental value. And because of its adaptability and sloppy management, it is commonly cultivated in gardens worldwide to embellish the landscape. In addition, Paeonia also has medicinal and commercial potential. Therefore, Paeonia breeding has significant application prospects and research significance.
Lifeasible has many years of research experience in Paeonia breeding. We combine conventional breeding methods with modern molecular biology techniques to produce new varieties of Paeonia with beautiful plants, rich flower colors, and specific flower patterns.
Our breeding platform
- Hybrid breeding. We have achieved Paeonia germplasm innovation using crossbreeding techniques, especially distant crosses within and between Paeonia groups. This has broken the hybridization barrier between species and groups and produced more significant genetic variation.
- Ploidy breeding. We have developed triploid Paeonia varieties, which solved the status quo of traditional Paeonia varieties being diploid and greatly promoted Paeonia breeding. Our polyploid Paeonia has excellent characteristics such as thick stalks, large flowers, strong heavy petalability, intense flower color, and enhanced resistance, and is of great ornamental value.
- Molecular breeding. Using genetic engineering technology, we introduced genes related to flower color, disease resistance, and insect resistance to Paeonia plants. We obtained new Paeonia varieties with high resistance, rich flower color, and better quality.
What we offer
- Flower color breeding. We continuously provide effective solutions to enhance Paeonia flower colors by breeding new flower colors.
- Extending the flowering period. Extending Paeonia's flowering period and selecting and breeding varieties with a more extended blooming period for a single plant, such as increasing the number of early-flowering and late-blooming varieties, can improve Paeonia's ornamental value but also its commercial and economic value.
- Fragrance. Generally cultivated Paeonia varieties have no fragrance, so we breed varieties with a strong fragrance, rich flower type, and easy flowering. These varieties have high application prospects.
- Increased resistance. We have continued to select and breed varieties with high cold and moisture tolerance. This has greatly improved the wide range of areas for Paeonia cultivation. In addition, we have selected and bred Paeonia varieties that are resistant to pests and diseases. This reduces the impact of pest and disease infestation on Paeonia ornamental quality.
Advantages of our services
Lifeasible offers a variety of effective solutions for breeding new varieties of Paeonia. We promote the continued development of the ornamental flower industry, including Paeonia, by translating scientific and technological results into productivity.
