INQUIRYIntroductions
Gene overexpression refers to cloning a target gene into a vector carrying elements such as a strong promoter and resistance selection markers; then introducing it into a plant, so that the host cell will obtain a higher level of target mRNA transcription and protein expression; so the function of the gene can be studied through phenotypic analysis. It is suitable for cases where gene functions are redundant or lethal after gene knockout.
Plant transformation refers to the transfer and incorporation of engineered genes or plasmids into the plant genome.
