Introductions

Breeding of Antirrhinum majus

Antirrhinum majus is native to the Mediterranean coast of southern Europe and is a perennial herb. Antirrhinum majus is rich in color and flowers from spring to autumn, suitable for potted and cut flowers, and has good ornamental value. With the progress of the research on the genetics, cultivation, pest control, in vitro culture, gene isolation, and transformation of Antirrhinum majus and other neighborhoods, the use of molecular biology techniques to breed excellent varieties of Antirrhinum majus has become the focus of attention of breeders.

Lifeasible is committed to using genetic engineering and in vitro culture techniques to produce Antirrhinum majus with rich, colorful flowers and greater resistance to pests and diseases.

What We Follow

The progress of Paphiopedilum cell engineering, genetic engineering, and other biotechnology, the success of the somatic embryogenesis pathway, the healing tissue pathway, and the protoplast pathway to regenerate Paphiopedilum plants have supported the improvement of Paphiopedilum varieties.

What We Provide

Flower Color Improvement

Based on the history of research on floral color variation in Antirrhinum majus, our scientists can identify and isolate genes encoding most of the enzymes involved in anthocyanin biosynthesis. We attempted to change the intensity or pattern of pigmentation by altering regulatory genes of MYB or basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors to alter the flower color of Antirrhinum majus.

Flower Fragrance Improvement

Terpenoids are a class of metabolites widely found in plants and an important component of floral fragrance. Among the various goldenseal species, terpenoids are released much higher and contribute the most to the floral fragrance. The main reason for the difference in the floral fragrance of different Antirrhinum majus species is the difference in floral fragrance composition and release. We can regulate the gene expression of enzymes that control floral fragrance components or precursors to influence the synthesis and release of Antirrhinum majus floral fragrance and accelerate the breeding of varieties with more intense floral fragrances.

Flower Type Improvement

Antirrhinum majus is a major model plant for molecular biology and floral breeding research. Based on understanding the development and morphogenesis of Antirrhinum majus flowers, the pattern of petal epidermal cell division, and growth, our scientists are working to reshape the flower pattern of Antirrhinum majus by regulating the expression of related genes.
